The 1999 Language appears to be a modified Orokin script found within Höllvania. The two seem to have a similar relation to block and cursive scripts in standard English, being written at different angles and with similar letter shape but changes in strokes that can make it difficult for those unfamiliar with the script to read it. The "block" script in 1999 is read the same as the "cursive" script used elsewhere, being read from left to right and with vowels noted separately from consonants rather than in line with them. Vowels are written directly above the consonant they precede, rather than above and to the left.

The same as the Orokin "cursive" script, the consonants of the script used in 1999 share a variety of features that indicate various vocal features of the sounds they represent, generally in the same way that the "cursive" script does. For example, a closed square or rectangle is equivalent to the small vertical stroke (the "crossguard") found on many "cursive" consonants. While many of the strokes used to write the consonants are different, consonants that share shapes do so across both scripts, i.e. the characters for "p," "f," "t," "th," "z," and "zh" all share a feature, that being the curved top in the 1999 script and the "bounce back" at the top left in the Orokin script.
