Disarm is a debuff that makes affected units lose their currently equipped weapon. Disarm works with slight differences depending on the unit affected:
- Afflicted enemy units that use firearms but can engage in melee combat have their weapons permanently removed or disabled and replaces them with a
Sheev if Grineer or
Prova if Corpus, forcing said enemies to engage in close combat. If said enemies already have a secondary melee weapon, they will be forced to use that weapon. - On ranged enemies without a secondary melee ability, Disarm permanently shuts down their weapons, making them incapable of attacking.
- When inflicted upon players, Disarm removes the weapon currently held by the Warframe. The player can still switch to any remaining weapons they may be carrying. The Warframe's disarmed weapon will be dropped on the ground, indicated by a yellow waypoint, and can be retrieved. Players will not permanently lose their disarmed weapon should they fail to retrieve it before completing the mission.
Disarm does not work on Bosses, nor on certain dedicated melee units, such as the Butcher or Scorpion, who will retain their original moveset and melee capabilities. Certain melee units, such as Terra Trenchers, will permanently switch off of their special weapon, losing access to their unique melee combos in addition to significantly lowering their damage output. Light Infested humanoid units (Runners, Leapers) are literally disarmed, having both their arms removed, but can attack normally otherwise.
Jam
Mesa's
Shooting Gallery and
Mag's
Counter Pulse jam enemy weapons, causing them to stop attacking and stand in place as they attempt to un-jam their weapon, providing a similar though temporarily effect to Disarm.
Shooting Gallery also affects most melee attackers by stunning the unit in place instead, as they attempt to shake off the effects before continuing their approach. In Conclave, jam abilities empty the victim's magazine, requiring them to reload to continue firing.
